1. Adjust Your Preflop Ranges
- Tight Players: Against tight players who only play premium hands, you can widen your range to steal pots with lower hands.
- Loose Players: Against players who play many hands, tighten up your range and focus on exploiting their weak post-flop play.
- Aggressive Players: Be cautious with your ranges when facing aggressive players. You might need to tighten up or trap them by calling more often with stronger hands.
- Passive Players: Against passive players, you can steal more often, as they are less likely to re-raise or protect their weak hands.
2. Population-Based Preflop Ranges
Preflop ranges vary depending on the table dynamics and position. Here are some guidelines:
- Early Position: Stick to premium hands like AA, KK, QQ, AK. You should play tighter.
- Middle Position: You can widen your range slightly by adding hands like suited connectors, KQ, and medium pocket pairs.
- Late Position: In late position, you can loosen up even more, playing a wider range of hands including weaker suited connectors, low pairs, and broadway cards.
3. Exploit Strategies
- Against Tight Players: Play more aggressively with a wider range of hands and steal blinds when they fold often.
- Against Loose Players: Value-bet more and avoid getting into marginal situations.
- Against Aggressive Players: Use traps, and raise when you have a strong hand, knowing they are likely to re-raise.
- Against Passive Players: Don’t be afraid to steal pots with a wider range, as they are unlikely to fight back unless they have a strong hand.
