Most live poker content is storytelling. A guy tells you about a sick hand, says “I just felt it”, everyone nods, nobody learns anything. I’ve watched hundreds of hours of it running this shop and I can count the useful minutes on one hand.
So when Upswing announced Destroy Live Cash, Garrett Adelstein’s first course ever, my expectations were low. Famous player, sure. The most feared man on Hustler Casino Live before the whole 2022 circus made him a household name even outside poker. But famous players make lazy courses all the time.
Not this one. This one’s dense.
The format nobody else had the nerve to use
Garrett took 50 pots from his own streams, Live at the Bike early on, Hustler era later, and explains them lesson by lesson. Real opponents. Dwan, Berkey, Andy Stacks, Papazyan, plus the ones that matter more for your bottom line: whales, VIPs, and the half-studied reg (you know the one, he 3-bets AK and shows it every time).
Every hand goes through the same grinder. What theory wants here, taught as rules of thumb instead of chart memorization. What this exact opponent does wrong. And then the merge, which is where the money lives.
87 lessons of that. 35 hours. Nine sections.
And here’s what sold me personally: he includes hands where he was wrong. Where the read said one thing, the solver said another, and the solver was right. Find me another $1,000-per-hour coach doing that on camera. I’ll wait.
What’s actually in it
The early sections cover the Live at the Bike years. River sizing tells, figuring out who’ll empty the clip, one hand where his line was solver-approved and still lit money on fire (lesson: approved isn’t the same as best). Then it escalates. The million dollar games section is 300bb+ poker against Berkey and Stacks, giant preflop raises, overbets, quick math for calls the size of a used car.
Hustler section is the biggest, 17 lessons. Mostly two headaches: the guy who never folds, and the line that makes no sense. Dwan pots are in there.
Sections 6 through 9 get weird in a good way. Bluffing with showdown value. Why raising thin against erratic VIPs is a disaster (I’d frame this lesson and hang it in every casino). Exploiting in the wrong direction, which he calls the most expensive mistake in poker, and he’s right. And the finale, hands 44 to 50: three-street bluffs that shouldn’t exist and a couple of folds I still don’t fully believe.
The charts, because someone had to
Every preflop chart you own assumes 100bb and no ante. Your Tuesday game is 400 deep with a straddle. Garrett got the Lucid solver team to build 200+ charts for actual 300bb+ live structures, his sizings, his stack depths. This bonus alone is half the reason to buy, honestly.
